Gary Chapman, Duck Dynasty and Private Lives of Nashville Wives
What do CCM artist Gary Chapman, The Robertson family of “Duck Dynasty” and TNT’s “Private Lives of Nashville Wives” all have in common? It all comes together in the season finale of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty.” The episode features the usual Robertson family banter as the clan prepares for a family reunion to honor Mia Robertson. Mia, the daughter of Missy and Jase Robertson was born with a cleft lip and palate and is bravely facing yet another surgery. As she takes the stage to make a speech, she shows that she has inherited both the Robertson sense of humor and the Robertson faith. After joking that the scariest part of her surgery was being unable to eat chicken nuggets for the next three months, Mia had this to say:
“My favorite verse is Psalm 46:10 ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ I like this verse because whenever I feel sad or have struggles, I know that God is bigger than all that and He is bigger than any of your struggles too.”
At the very end of the broadcast, Mia is surrounded by her family as she is taken into surgery. Softly playing in the background is “Angel Child,” a love song to Mia and a celebration of this very special little girl.
“Angel Child” is the result of the collaborative writing efforts of Missy Robertson, Gary Chapman and his wife Cassie Chapman of “Private Lives of Nashville Wives.” Missy Robertson sings the lead with a raw tenderness that highlights the song’s message. “Angel Child” is available for download at miamoo.org
Thank you Gary Chapman for writing and producing this gift for every family whose “life took a turn.”
