Gospel Monday At CCM Classic

Good Sunday evening to all of our social media friends, this is Philip Mayabb reporting tonight, and for the rest of the week as well. Michael Lederer is taking a break from all the festivities this week, and he asked me to fill in, so I'm ready to serve.

Tomorrow is the start of a new work week, and it's also Southern Gospel Monday on CCM Classic. As you know, SG was the predecessor to what we now know as Contemporary Christian Music, and many of the legends of modern CCM are huge fans of Southern Gospel, and grew up listening to genre. We're going to have a lot of fun this week, because we are going to spotlight a series of CDs released by The Benson Company out of Nashville. Titled "Masters Of Gospel," this unique set of CDs contained a total of ten discs by ten different SG legends, each highlighting some of the biggest classics by each illustrious group. Sadly, we do not have The Rambos, JD Sumner & The Stamps, or The Speers, but we do have the remaining seven, and we're going to play all of them during the day tomorrow. So if you grew up listening to Southern Gospel as I did, you will definitely recognize these artists, and the songs contained on their Masters Of Gospel recording. Check the schedule, and look for your favorites, this is going to be a lot of fun!

We will also be debuting a wonderful hits compilation by the legendary Nelons tomorrow as well, it is called "The Best Of Times," and it was released in 1990. 20 tracks from one of the biggest SG groups of the 70s and 80s, this is one of those recordings that you will just enjoy, from start to finish. We'll also hear hit collections from The Steeles, the Gaither Vocal Band, and Brian Free & Assurance, which means that by the time we get together tomorrow evening, your heart should be lifted to the Heavens from all of the wonderful Southern Gospel you will hear tomorrow.
